Portuguese midfielder Cristiano Ronaldo is sure he shouldn't have been sent off against Portsmouth at the weekend, claiming that he didn't make any contact with his supposed-headbutt on Richard Hughes.
Match referee Steve Bennett has a history with Ronaldo having sent him off in last seasons derby game with Man City, and again he chose to send off Cristiano, though from the replays it is clear that the Manchester United star didn't make contact with the Portsmouth midfielder.
Ironically, Ronaldo will now be banned for the Manchester derby at the coming weekend, which United will desperately need to win having picked up just 2 points in their opening 2 games. With Wayne Rooney still sidelined with his broken foot, and Manchester City still unbeaten and in fine-form under new manager Sven Goran Eriksson, the added absense of Ronaldo doesn't stand to help manager Alex Ferguson.

The Manchester United manager has called on referees to crack down on the provokers when it comes to players being wound-up, and claims that if something isn't done about it soon then Ronaldo could suffer a really dangerous injury.
Meanwhile Ronaldo will hope that his teammates can cope without him when they take on local rivals City at the City Of Manchester stadium at the weekend, and pick up their first win of the season after a terrible start to the campaign.
